The British government is prepared to move forward with utilizing the total value of immobilized Russia's funds to bolster Ukraine's defense operations, Leader Sir Keir Starmer has stated.

In a joint statement, the heads of state of the Britain, France, and the Federal Republic of Germany emphasized that this joint measure would escalate tension on Russia's leader Vladimir Putin and persuade Russia to engage in negotiations.

They added that the initiative would be implemented in tight collaboration with the United States.

UK penalties have frozen over £25bn of Russian resources since the Russian government launched its full-scale invasion against the Ukrainian nation in 2022. Yet, up to this point, funds provided to Ukraine using Russian holdings had exclusively been sourced from earnings and returns generated on them.

Sir Keir assured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that the UK, France, and Germany were in agreement in their goal to drive progress toward utilizing the full value of the frozen Moscow's national assets to conclude the conflict.

He noted that further restrictions over the next period would apply more pressure on Moscow.

This statement follows EU leaders gathered in the Danish capital last week to consider employing frozen Russia's funds for a 140-billion-euro financial aid to the Ukrainian nation.

In the previous month, President Donald Trump encouraged international partners to seize or otherwise use immobilized Russian funds, based on media sources.

The value of seized Russian funds in the European Union is assessed to be almost €211bn.

Leader Zelensky urges UK's Sir Keir Starmer to join the weapons procurement programme

The Russian government launched widespread aerial attacks across Ukraine on Friday, causing blackouts in large parts of the capital city, Kyiv, and eight other regions.

A pair of individuals were killed and no fewer than 20 people were injured in the assault, Ukrainian officials reported.

In a message on an online platform after the strike, Zelensky stated that the strategic strike aimed at public and utility structures.

"What's needed is not mere statements but firm measures - from the US, Europe, and the G7 - in supplying air defence systems and enforcing sanctions," he emphasized.

"Every sanction decision diminishes the Russian war effort," Zelensky wrote, in a separate post.

Also on Friday, Zelensky informed reporters he would press Sir Keir to join the Purl scheme, under which partner nations purchase weapons from the America to give to the Ukrainian forces.

While applauding the UK's consistent assistance for Kyiv, he said it should send a clear signal that it would participate in the program, as well as apply additional restrictions on Russia.
