The President Calls Relatives of Attacked Military Personnel to the White House

President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the family of a National Guard member tragically killed last week to visit the White House.

He mentioned that he contacted her family and they were “devastated”.

Details on the Heartbreaking Event

Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was lost her life in a shooting on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her colleague, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, is still in the hospital in serious condition.

Gatherings across West Virginia have taken place in their remembrance.

Presidential Offer

The president said he’s proposed a visit to the White House for the parents of both individuals of the West Virginia Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a hard experience, visit the White House. We’re going to honor her,” the president addressed the press. “And similarly with him, recover or not.”

Community Support

Community members gathered over the past few days at a local school in the state to remember Sarah.

Both she and Wolfe had been working with the state guard as part of Trump’s government program to support law enforcement in the capital.

Paying Tribute to Sarah Beckstrom

“Sarah was the kind of student that instructors hoped for. She carried herself with quiet strength, a bright grin and a optimistic attitude that inspired people around her,” Hankins, the leader of Beckstrom’s previous school, told the press. “She was kind, caring and always eager to support those in need.”

Memorial arrangements for Sarah are yet to be finalized.

Judicial Steps and Policy Adjustments

Law enforcement have charged a twenty-nine-year-old individual from Afghanistan with a charge of murder and charges of assault with intent to kill while carrying a weapon.

The tragedy caused the government to suspend asylum applications and temporarily stop issuing visas to owners of Afghan passports.

Status of the Airman

Andrew Wolfe, a native of the city, enlisted in 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, per the Associated Press.

He is still undergoing care and is “battling to survive”, the state’s governor Morrisey stated on television.

Attorney general Bondi stated on Fox News Sunday that she aimed to speak to his relatives.

Memory of the Fallen Soldier

Sarah, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County high school in June 2023 and began her service not long after, working as a military police officer with honor, per the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of compassion and she definitely had courage,” Morrisey told the audience at the service. “Though her time was cut short, she has created a legacy that’s going to be remembered always.”
