The Fifth Toy Story Film Trailer Sets Woody and Buzz Against a Tablet Computer
Exactly 30 anniversary since the original Toy Story film debuted, establishing Pixar as a major film company and introducing viewers to iconic characters like Woody (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now household names.
In 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed this week, offering a brief look into the storyline but leaving fans wondering how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Gang
In the teaser reveals Bonnie — who received Andy's toys when he left for college — receiving a brand new toy, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie acquires her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.
Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the toys seem to view it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it likely will.
Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
An element the trailer avoids is why Woody is back with his friends in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a new adventure with Bo Peep (the actress), traveling with a fair and assisting giveaway items locate loving owners.
Certainly, Pixar will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him show up in Bonnie's room without warning is a little strange, though. It also raises questions whether his partner will have come back with him. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?
Continuity from the Last Installment
At the very least, some elements are continuing from the prior film. The final act the cowboy did before setting off for his fresh path was hand over his sheriff badge to Jessie (the voice actor), entrusting her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip shows the badge pinned to her outfit.
It is hoped she is remains the key figure among the group.
Toy Story 5 debuts on the scheduled date.
