Recent Details Surface Concerning the Discovery of the Reiner Couple's Remains
Recent details have emerged about the tragic demises of esteemed film director Rob Reiner and artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were found at their residence residence on Sunday.
The Alarm
According to a report referencing a confidential source, a massage therapist arriving for an session initially became concerned after not being able to enter the house. The practitioner then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives nearby.
Upon entering the residence, Romy discovered her father's body. Reports state she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, not realizing at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. A companion who had accompanied her promptly called 911. Subsequently, emergency responders discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Criminal Proceedings
The police have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of premeditated murder, as well as the use of a dangerous weapon, said to be a knife. He is presently in custody without bail.
Clarifications
The anonymous source questioned several initial details. They said that while Romy Reiner informed emergency responders that her brother Nick resided in a detached unit on the property, she did not name him as a potential suspect at that time.
The source also disputed circulated suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "worried" about Nick's actions in the preceding period. Instead the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."
The statement includes accounts of reportedly "unpredictable" conduct by Nick at a party hosted by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the tragedy. While the source stated they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "rebuked" his son at the party, they maintained that suggestions of a "major confrontation" between the two were untrue.
Ongoing Inquiry Details
As stated by law enforcement sources, the medical examiner had still not confirmed as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Some accounts noted the state of their bodies implied they had been deceased for some hours.
Nick Reiner was taken into custody at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park, some 15 miles from the scene. He was due to have a hearing on Tuesday, but his attorney, Alan Jackson, indicated his client had not been medically cleared and would not appear until no sooner than Wednesday.
