Ex- Doctor Faces Assault Charges Involving Thirty-Eight Patients
Prosecutors report that a former physician stands accused of carrying out sexual assaults against thirty-eight victims who were patients.
The Grave Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous acts of sexual assault – comprising some against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.
One deputy chief CPS official commented, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to assist a detailed and complex police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
Scope of the Police Inquiry
The charges come after what police called a “complex investigation” into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.
List of Offences
Prosecutors said the 45 sexual offences he is charged with:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
