England's Bowling Consultant Tim Southee Unsure on The Ashes Availability
The bowler's last Test for New Zealand was versus England in December 2024.
England's fast-bowling advisor Tim Southee is currently evaluating what his involvement will be during the forthcoming Ashes series in Australia.
The former Kiwi pace bowler is expected to be present for the first Test due to his involvement in the ILT20 competition, which begins on December 2 in the United Arab Emirates.
The 36-year-old, 36, took up a position as England's pace bowling advisor in the warmer months after taking 391 scalps in 107 Test matches for the Kiwis.
Speaking as England's team for the first of three T20 matches against New Zealand was named, he said of his participation: "We are still evaluating the situation at the present time.
"We will determine the outcome over the next little while."
English bowling legend Broad had declared the Australian team as their "worst team since 2010", but the consultant was in little doubt over what to expect during the series, which begins on 21 November.
"In my view there's ever a bad Aussie side," Southee remarked.
"The team's attention is firmly on what we're trying to do. In my opinion the caliber of [the English] team that's heading out to Australia is excellent.
"It ought to be an thrilling encounter, that series. Not just [are|do] English and Australian people eagerly anticipate it, I think the whole cricket world is."
But, prior to the English team travel to the city of Perth for the first Ashes match, they take on New Zealand in the city of Christchurch on Saturday.
